Psychological disorders

In Chapter 11 we learn about psychological disorders. These disorders include depression, post traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, antisocial personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and schizophrenia. Along with the multiple symptoms, we learn about the causes and psychological effects they cause to the person diagnosed with the disorder.
Phobias

A phobia is an exaggerated unrealistic fear of something. The most common phobias in the United States are: glossophobia (fear of public speaking), necrophobia (fear of death), arachnophobia (fear of spiders), nyctophobia (fear of darkness), acrophobia (fear of heights), sociophobia (fear of people or social situations), and aerophobia (fear of flying).
Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder marked by delusions, hallucinations, incoherent speech, inappropriate behavior, and cognitive impairments. Nearly 1 in 100 people suffer from schizophrenia. Scientific studies show that brain abnormalities and higher levels of dopamine D4 receptors are the main causes of schizophrenia.
